Hi, I'm Louise Rutkowski. For as long as I can remember, I have been connected to music – be it by listening to it or being directly involved in it.   As a child,  I would use the microphone from a reel-to-reel tape recorder my parents had and dance around the living room, miming to whatever was on the radio.  My parents had a great record collection and I also benefited from having older siblings who introduced me to really cool stuff at an early age!  

 

Singing in front of people for the first time around the age of 9 in a summer show based at the local church, standing alone on stage with a light shining on my face and looking out into the dark, I realised the power and mystery of singing to an audience and I WANTED IT!!.   

 

Years later, a career in music did beckon from that church hall stage and, like a lot of creative careers, it’s had its ups and downs.  Working with both major and independent labels to greater or lesser degrees of success led me to co-write and release my own music via crowd-funding and the support of a loyal fan base.   Even though my career’s crazy trajectory is not what I expected, I haven’t lost my passion for, and love of, music.   It’s that passion and what I have learnt along the way that I share with other singers. 

 

I have studied the mechanics of singing and continue to do so, but it’s the creative aspect of it that really lights my fire and is my USP when working with other singers.  My thing is BE YOURSELF.  I have always sought it in my own singing and life and want to spend my days encouraging others to do the same.  

 

I founded SONGSKILLS because I wanted to make a place dedicated to exploring that authenticity and love of the craft of singing with others.  I’m not here to help you get on The Voice.  I’m not here to make you famous and then bask in your reflected glory, telling everyone who’ll listen that I worked with you.  I’m not here to make you sing higher or belt louder than anyone else.  But I am here if you want to explore who you are as a singer because you love music and you love singing and MUST have it in your life. 

 

 My vision for SONGSKILLS is a place of trust and privacy for singers, where they can open up like beautiful flowers and be themselves.  SONGSKILLS is a place where you can be supported, guided, and mentored – whatever it is you need to grow.

 

     

With my extensive individual coaching experience, working with many different voices, ages, types of people, levels of ability, and with over 30 years’ experience as a singer, performer, and songwriter, I know my stuff.  BUT you will always come first – this is no “I’ll tell you what I think is best for you” scenario -we work together.

 

And most importantly of all – we’ll have FUN!
